Small Shepherds Club

Our sheep

Club members keep a wide variety of sheep – thirty different breeds plus crossbreeds. In June 2004 the total Club flock numbered 1,844. Our smallest flock is one and some members have no sheep at all!

In terms of numbers of individual flocks, the two most popular breeds in the club are Jacob with twenty flocks and Shetland with thirteen. These are followed by Badger Faced Welsh Mountain (10 flocks ) Southdown (9 flocks), Black Welsh Mountain (8 flocks).

In pure numbers of sheep, Jacobs top the list at 225, followed by Shetlands (164), Texel (149), Llanwenog (106), Welsh Mountain (105) and Badger Face Welsh Mountain (103).

See the next page for a full list of breeds kept by Club members.
